CLINICAL ADVISOR
Gloria Duke, RN, PhD, ICP
I was raised in Houston, TX and have lived in various places since graduating with my BSN and MSN from Texas Woman’s University. I’ve worked in hospitals since I was 12 years old and as an employee at the ripe age of 14. I begged to let them allow me to work in any capacity due to my lifelong passion for wanting to be a nurse! After graduating with my BSN, I continued to work in cardiac care, both inpatient and outpatient, until I moved to Lafayette, LA to begin my career as a nurse educator. I’ve worked in nursing administration and education in a variety of settings until fate led me to a move to Tyler, TX to begin my nursing educator career at The University of Texas at Tyler. During this time, I was awarded local and federal grants, published 42 articles in peer reviewed journals as sole or co-author, directed the university’s Center for Ethics, initiated and implemented the university’s Institutional Review Board and directed those activities for 16 years, and thoroughly enjoyed all of my multiple roles at the university. While I’ve published studies with other researchers in multiple areas, my passions for research deal with improving end of life care, quality of life and pain management. After 31 years, I formally retired from UT Tyler August 31, 2020. Students have been and continue to be a joy for me, and now I continue to work with students therein doing research with IASIS Neurofeedback and with end of life care. I am a holistic life coach and pursuing certification by mid-August 2021.
With my husband retiring in late 2018, we became interested in IASIS Neurofeedback after discovering how effective it was for improving quality of life for so many people, and we completed training as ICPs in January 2019. Trinity Integrative Care was thus born! In May 2019 we received approval from the UT Tyler IRB to initiate a study to determine the effects of IASIS Neurofeedback on mental health outcomes and quality of life. That study has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my research career because we saw lives being changed! The study is now completed and the first draft will be submitted for publication by end of August 2021. We are also excited about beginning a new IASIS Neurofeedback research adventure with Matthews Hope Foundation to study the effects of IASIS Neurofeedback has on adults with opioid addiction. That study will begin in Fall 2021.
IASIS Technologies Corporation and its founder, Barry Bruder, have been a true blessing to me! As a nurse who is so passionate about quality of life and feeling so powerless at times to help people, IASIS Neurofeedback provides a new avenue to follow that gives so much hope!
